Is Valued Opinions A Scam?

As one of the largest UK online market research panels they probably have the largest base of users of any survey company. A common concern is whether or not survey sites are a scam? There has been some concern about a Valued Opinions scam so let's take a closer look.

Valued opinions is part of the old Research Now and e-Rewards group. They have been around for 10 years and provide market research data to large corporations and business. So if a company wanted to know what was good and bad about their product the would go to them and ask them to query their panel.

How surveys work

A company will approach a market research company and ask them to gather specific data on one of their products or services or to provide market intel. The survey company will look at their panel of members and then send out an email inviting members to take part in the survey.

Each one works in a slightly different way. Some just send out the questionnaire to a sample of their audience whilst others pick people on their profiling. This makes sure that they are getting to the right people, there is not much point asking the males in the group for their opinions on make-up for example.

So as a person who has joined a opinion panel you will be notified if there is a survey you need to complete. It will generally give you an indication of the sorts of questions they are going to ask, how much you will be paid and how long it should take to complete. In the email will be a link to click on that will take you to the survey.

The next part is where some people feel that they it is a scam. You will generally be given some qualification questions to decide whether or not you are a qualified enough person to take part in a particular survey. So if they want to know about your buying habits for meat products there would be no point in asking a vegetarian. At this point you would be notified that you are not eligible to take part in this particular survey.

If you are eligible you will complete the rest of the questions and the amount earned will be credited to your account. Generally you will be able to request a payment through your online account. This is usually done via Paypal, a cheque or direct bank transfer. Again the options depend on the survey company you are working for.

How much can I earn doing surveys?

This is going to depend on how much work you do. To give you an idea you can earn anything from 25 pence to as much as £50. However most of the time the payments will be between £1 and £3 for the most part. Depending on how quick you are at reading the questions and clicking or typing the answers it typically takes about half an hour to complete a survey.

How much does it cost to join a survey company?

When you sign up it should not cost you anything at all. In fact I would go as far as to say never pay money for anything to do with surveys. The legitimate paid surveys are cost free for you, remember you are working for them, they are the ones paying you.

How many hours will I be working?

The great thing about this type of work is that you can pick and choose what work you do and when you do it. If you are hoping to work a few hours every day then you are going to want to sign up to more than one site. Remember the more you sign up to the more work you will get increasing your earning potential. There are enough sites out there to at least give you enough work for a decent part time job.

Another reason to sign up with several employers is that you can be choosier. This means if you are offered a 30 minute job and they are going to pay you a pound you could turn it down in favour of a 15 minute job that may pay double that. In fact choosing the best paying offers means your hourly earning potential is much higher.

Is it a scam?

If you work hard and complete surveys everyday then you can earn some decent money. The key is being consistent and working hard. I have had a few emails from people complaining about scams but most of the time when I press them further I find they have only tried it for a few days or a week and then given up. If you want to earn money online you can't be the sort of person who gives up and call something a scam just because it requires effort.

From experience I know there are scan survey sites out there and this is why I only ever recommend a few sites that I trust. Only ever join a site you trust and then get into a habit of working every day. You have to be your own motivator as you will have no boss looking over your shoulder encouraging you to work harder.
